While many parks continue to compete through ever-taller and faster roller coasters, Germany’s Schwaben Park is taking a different approach.
The family-owned park near Stuttgart has announced Turbo Toni’s Wäscheschleuder, a new Wild Swing attraction scheduled to open in July 2026. Rather than targeting thrill-seekers, the ride has been designed as a multi-generational experience that can be enjoyed by children, parents and grandparents together.
The attraction continues a strategy that has increasingly defined Schwaben Park in recent years. Instead of investing primarily in major thrill rides, the park has focused on highly themed family attractions with original storylines and broad accessibility.
A giant washing machine comes to life
Turbo Toni’s Wäscheschleuder will be manufactured by German ride supplier ART Engineering and will take the form of a Wild Swing attraction. Guests will board a gondola themed as a giant historic wash tub before swinging up to 12 metres into the air. The ride accommodates up to 16 passengers at a time.
The attraction is based on an original character created for the park: Turbo Toni, a raccoon inventor who attempts to dry an entire village’s laundry at once. According to the storyline, his experimental machine spins out of control, creating the oversized washing spinner that guests experience as the ride itself.
Unlike many modern thrill attractions, the ride does not feature inversions. Instead, the focus is on family-friendly sensations and visual storytelling. Children from the age of three will be able to ride when accompanied by an adult, with a minimum height requirement of 90 centimetres.
More than just a ride
Schwaben Park is placing significant emphasis on the attraction’s theming.
The experience will include a custom soundtrack produced by IMAscore, the company behind the music for several existing park attractions including Hummel Brummel and Wilde Hilde. The ride area will also feature themed effects such as soap bubbles, water fountains and oversized laundry-room scenery.
The attraction will be built between Force One and Hummel Brummel, strengthening one of the park’s busiest sections.
Part of a larger transformation
The announcement is the latest step in Schwaben Park’s ongoing evolution.
Originally founded as a wildlife park in 1972, the destination has gradually transformed into a full-scale amusement park. Over the past decade, investment has accelerated with projects such as the interactive family coaster Hummel Brummel, the virtual adventure Hans Dampf and expanded resort accommodations.
The park has also invested beyond attractions. Recent projects include renewable-energy infrastructure, new employee facilities and the expansion of overnight accommodation through the Schwaben Resort and nearby hotel acquisitions.
A different philosophy
In an industry increasingly focused on records and headline-grabbing roller coasters, Schwaben Park continues to pursue a different path.
Turbo Toni’s Wäscheschleuder will not be the tallest, fastest or most intense attraction opening in Europe next year. Instead, it reflects the park’s long-standing philosophy of creating attractions that families can experience together.
For a regional park competing against much larger destinations, that approach has helped create a distinct identity. The new Wild Swing may be themed to a runaway washing machine, but it also represents another example of how Schwaben Park continues to grow by focusing on shared family experiences rather than extreme thrills.
