One of the world’s most popular entertainment franchises is making its LEGOLAND debut this summer. As part of the annual LEGO Festival, selected LEGOLAND Resorts around the globe are introducing brand-new Pokémon-themed experiences, giving families the opportunity to build, play and meet one of gaming’s most beloved characters.
The collaboration between the LEGO Group, Merlin Entertainments and The Pokémon Company marks the first time Pokémon has been incorporated into the LEGO Festival, adding another major intellectual property to the parks’ growing line-up of interactive experiences.
Six LEGOLAND Resorts Receive the New Experience
The exclusive LEGO Pokémon Play Zone will be available at six LEGOLAND Resorts around the world:
- LEGOLAND California (United States)
- LEGOLAND Florida (United States)
- LEGOLAND New York (United States)
- LEGOLAND Windsor (United Kingdom)
- LEGOLAND Deutschland (Germany)
- LEGOLAND Shanghai (China)
Although other LEGOLAND parks, including Billund, Japan, Korea, Dubai and Malaysia, are also celebrating the LEGO Festival, they are not offering the Pokémon experience.
Become a Pokémon Trainer
The Pokémon Play Zone is designed as an interactive family attraction where guests can step into the role of a Pokémon Trainer.
Visitors can build their own LEGO Poké Balls, participate in a guided Trainer Center experience, complete hands-on building challenges and explore themed play areas inspired by the Pokémon universe. One of the biggest highlights is the opportunity to meet a giant LEGO Pikachu, expected to become one of the festival’s most photographed attractions.
Due to the anticipated popularity of the experience, several resorts are using virtual queues to manage visitor numbers throughout the day.
Much More Than Pokémon
The LEGO Festival itself offers a wide range of activities beyond the new Pokémon area.
Guests can explore multiple themed zones celebrating creativity, music, dance and imagination, with live entertainment, large-scale LEGO sculptures, interactive games and countless opportunities to build with LEGO bricks. Many resorts have also added exclusive festival shows, character appearances and limited-time activities that are only available during the event.
The festival has become one of the biggest seasonal celebrations across the LEGOLAND portfolio, encouraging children and parents to build and play together.
A Sign of Bigger Things to Come?
The timing of the new experience is no coincidence. It comes ahead of the launch of the first official LEGO Pokémon construction sets, one of the most anticipated collaborations in the toy industry in recent years.
By introducing Pokémon to millions of visitors through its theme parks, Merlin Entertainments is giving fans an early taste of the partnership. If the response proves successful, many theme park enthusiasts believe this could be just the beginning, with more permanent Pokémon-themed attractions or even dedicated lands becoming a possibility at LEGOLAND Resorts in the future.
