Visitors to Universal Islands of Adventure will temporarily have one less dining option in Jurassic Park. Thunder Falls Terrace, one of the land’s signature quick-service restaurants, has closed for an extensive refurbishment project.
Construction walls now surround the restaurant as Universal begins what appears to be a significant renovation of both the building and its outdoor dining areas.
A Popular Dining Spot in Jurassic Park
Located next to Jurassic Park River Adventure, Thunder Falls Terrace has long been one of the park’s most popular restaurants. The venue is well known for its rotisserie chicken, ribs and rice bowls, as well as its large outdoor terrace overlooking the dramatic splashdown of the nearby water ride.
The viewing area has made it a favourite location for guests wanting to enjoy a meal while watching rafts plunge down the attraction’s final drop.
Extensive Work Underway
The restaurant is expected to receive a comprehensive refurbishment rather than a simple refresh. Construction walls have been installed around much of the location, and work is believed to include updates to the kitchen, dining areas and guest facilities.
Universal Orlando Resort has not announced exactly what improvements are being made, and there has been no indication that the restaurant’s menu or theme will change following the refurbishment.
Part of Ongoing Park Improvements
The closure is the latest in a series of infrastructure and refurbishment projects taking place across Universal Orlando Resort as the destination continues investing in its existing parks alongside the recent opening of Epic Universe.
Universal has not yet announced a reopening date for Thunder Falls Terrace. Until then, guests visiting Jurassic Park can still find alternative dining options nearby, including Pizza Predattoria, Burger Digs and The Watering Hole.
