Universal Studios Japan is preparing to celebrate a major milestone in 2026, and the Osaka theme park has revealed an extensive programme of entertainment, limited-time attractions and exclusive experiences to mark its 25th anniversary.
Running under the theme “No Limit! 25th Anniversary”, the celebration will span many months and feature new entertainment, anniversary merchandise, special food and returning fan-favourite experiences across the resort.
A Year-Long Celebration
Unlike a traditional anniversary event lasting only a few weeks, Universal Studios Japan is planning a celebration that stretches across much of the year.
Guests can expect anniversary decorations throughout the park, exclusive souvenirs, commemorative menus and seasonal entertainment designed especially for the milestone year. Many experiences will only be available during the anniversary celebration, encouraging fans to visit multiple times.
Special Entertainment Takes Centre Stage
One of the biggest highlights is a brand-new anniversary entertainment programme featuring Universal’s popular characters alongside spectacular daytime performances.
Guests can expect appearances by the Minions, Sesame Street characters, Snoopy, Hello Kitty and other park favourites in specially created anniversary productions. Music, dancing and audience participation remain central to Universal Studios Japan’s “No Limit!” philosophy, which has become one of the resort’s defining themes in recent years.
The park will also continue offering many of its headline experiences, including Super Nintendo World, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Minion Park and Donkey Kong Country, ensuring visitors can combine the anniversary festivities with the resort’s newest attractions.
Exclusive Merchandise and Food
No Japanese theme park celebration would be complete without a large collection of limited-edition products.
Universal Studios Japan is releasing exclusive 25th anniversary merchandise featuring specially designed logos and artwork, including apparel, collectibles, plush toys, stationery and souvenirs available only during the celebration.
Restaurants and food stands throughout the park will also introduce anniversary-themed snacks, desserts and drinks, many featuring colourful presentations and exclusive packaging created for the event.
Practical Information for Visitors
The 25th anniversary celebration officially begins in spring 2026 and will continue well into 2027, giving both domestic and international visitors plenty of opportunities to experience the festivities.
Universal Studios Japan is one of the world’s busiest theme parks, and the anniversary celebrations are expected to attract exceptionally high attendance, particularly during Japanese school holidays, Golden Week, Obon and weekends.
Visitors planning to experience popular attractions such as Donkey Kong Country, Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge, Yoshi’s Adventure and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey are strongly advised to purchase Universal Express Passes in advance, as these regularly sell out during peak periods.
Timed entry to Super Nintendo World may also be required during busy days through the Universal Studios Japan app.
One of Asia’s Most Successful Theme Parks
Since opening in 2001, Universal Studios Japan has grown into one of the world’s most successful theme parks, attracting millions of visitors every year from across Japan and overseas.
The resort has pioneered several attractions that later inspired developments at Universal parks around the world, including the original Super Nintendo World, which debuted in Osaka before expanding to Hollywood, Orlando and Singapore.
Twenty-five years after welcoming its first guests, Universal Studios Japan is celebrating not only its own history but also its reputation as one of the most innovative and influential theme parks in the industry. For fans planning a visit in 2026 or early 2027, the anniversary promises to offer more entertainment, exclusive experiences and limited-time offerings than ever before.
