New Jersey - Six Flags has announced that the popular Holiday in the Park event will not return in 2025 at both Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey and Six Flags Over Georgia near Atlanta. In both cases, the parks have confirmed that their 2025 season will end on November 30, marking a return to a more traditional operating calendar.
According to official statements, the decision reflects a deliberate focus on core operations during the park’s most popular months. Management described the move as part of a renewed emphasis on delivering strong guest experiences during spring, summer, and fall, when attendance and weather conditions are most favorable.
End of a seasonal tradition
Holiday in the Park has long been a cherished fixture for families in both regions, offering elaborate light displays, holiday music, festive snacks, and seasonal entertainment. Its cancellation is expected to disappoint many returning visitors, particularly season pass holders who had come to expect the extended operating season and holiday atmosphere.
While the parks have not announced any direct replacement for the event, they have indicated that operational resources will be redirected to enhancing offerings during the regular season. Guest benefits or incentives tied to the loss of the winter event have not been confirmed.
Industry-wide pressure on seasonal events
The move comes amid a broader trend within the theme park industry, where winter events are increasingly being scaled back or cancelled due to economic and logistical factors. Rising labor costs, unpredictable weather patterns, and the relatively low attendance during December have led several parks across North America to shorten their operating seasons and focus on high-impact months.
In this context, Six Flags’ decision to concentrate on core-season operations follows a growing industry pattern. Events like Fright Fest and summer festivals are expected to continue, as they typically drive stronger attendance and guest spending.
Focus shifts to 2026 and beyond
With the removal of Holiday in the Park, Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Over Georgia will enter the 2026 season with renewed attention on spring and summer initiatives. For now, the decision signals a strategic refocus rather than a one-time reduction. Whether Holiday in the Park returns in future years will likely depend on attendance trends, climate patterns, and internal priorities across the Six Flags chain.
