Belgium - Plopsaland De Panne, one of Belgium’s most popular theme parks, is preparing to start construction on a brand-new pirate-themed restaurant. The development will replace the current Piratengrill, a dated dining venue located next to the SuperSplash water ride.
The new restaurant will be significantly larger and more immersive than its predecessor, with a detailed design inspired by the popular Studio 100 character Piet Piraat. Concept art reveals a striking façade featuring “De Scheve Schuit,” the recognizable pirate ship from the children’s television series. The restaurant is planned as a two-story structure, providing expanded capacity and a stronger themed experience for families and park guests.
The current Piratengrill is set to be demolished in the near future. According to the public permit application, the construction will begin after the summer season, minimizing disruption during the park’s busiest months. The project reflects Plopsaland’s continued investment in enhancing its food and beverage offerings through immersive, story-driven environments that complement its existing attractions.
While the park has not yet disclosed details such as the total budget, square footage, or construction partners involved, the scale and theming of the new restaurant suggest a major upgrade in both guest experience and operational capacity.
