Plopsaland Belgium to Debut Mack Rides Flying Theater as Centerpiece of New Plopsaland Plaza in 2027

Plopsaland Belgium is preparing for one of the largest expansions in its history with the development of Plopsaland Plaza, a major new indoor hub that will transform the resort experience.

The €25 million project is set to open in 2027 and will feature a state-of-the-art Mack Rides Flying Theater as its signature attraction. This investment marks a key step in Plopsaland’s evolution from a family theme park into a full-scale resort designed for multi-day visits and year-round entertainment.

A New Flying Theater Experience

The upcoming Flying Theater, also referred to as a “flying cinema,” will immerse visitors in a sweeping aerial adventure. Guests will be seated in suspended rows that lift and glide toward a massive domed projection screen, creating the sensation of soaring through expansive landscapes. Motion, wind, scent, and mist effects will work together to make the experience feel remarkably lifelike.

During daytime operations, visitors will embark on a flight themed around Maya the Bee, following a joyful journey across European scenery. After dark, a separate film experience will be offered exclusively for hotel guests and evening visitors, giving the attraction dual functionality within the resort. Designed and built by Mack Rides, the Flying Theater will combine smooth motion technology with cinematic storytelling, reinforcing Plopsaland’s commitment to family-oriented immersion.

Plopsaland Plaza: A New Heart of the Resort

The Flying Theater will stand within Plopsaland Plaza, an expansive indoor square that will serve as the resort’s central gathering point. The Plaza is being conceived as a lively, weatherproof environment offering dining, entertainment, and thematic ambiance throughout the year.

At its core will be a spacious Grand Café featuring a warm, wood-accented interior and a menu centered around Belgian comfort classics. Additional facilities, including bowling lanes and renewed entertainment spaces, will enhance the atmosphere and broaden the range of experiences available to visitors. The popular Plopsa Express train will also receive its new main station here, further solidifying the Plaza as the organizational heart of the resort.

Transforming Plopsaland into a Multi-Day Destination

Plopsaland Belgium has grown significantly over the past decade, expanding from a traditional family park into a diverse resort destination with themed areas, high-capacity attractions, an on-site hotel, and extensive indoor facilities. The creation of Plopsaland Plaza underscores this shift by offering guests a substantial indoor area that remains equally attractive in peak season or during rainy weather.

The introduction of the Flying Theater strengthens the resort’s position by adding a marquee multimedia attraction with broad family appeal. As part of the long-term vision, the resort aims to welcome up to two million visitors annually, supported by a combination of immersive attractions, hospitality offerings, and multi-day entertainment.

Opening Timeline

Construction of Plopsaland Plaza, including the Flying Theater building, is progressing through 2025 and 2026. Once the structural and technical components are in place, the attraction will undergo extensive testing to ensure flawless synchronization between the visual media, motion seats, and sensory effects. The complete Plaza, together with the Flying Theater, is scheduled to open in 2027.
