Paultons Park’s New Mack Water Coaster Nears Completion Ahead of 2027 Opening

Construction is progressing rapidly on Serpent’s Curse, the new Mack Rides water coaster coming to Paultons Park in 2027. Recent aerial images reveal that most of the bright yellow track has now been installed, bringing the highly anticipated attraction another step closer to completion.

The coaster will become the next major addition to Valgard – Realm of the Vikings, the Viking-themed area that opened in May 2026 and marked one of the largest expansions in the history of the British family theme park.

Expanding the Viking world

Valgard – Realm of the Vikings officially opened on 16 May 2026, introducing guests to a new Nordic-themed land featuring several major attractions. Highlights included a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster and Wild Swing, a family thrill ride manufactured by ART Engineering.

From the outset, the park confirmed that the area was designed to grow in phases. Serpent’s Curse represents the second stage of that expansion, further strengthening the Viking storyline while adding a completely different ride experience.

Mack water coaster takes shape

Serpent’s Curse is being built by German manufacturer Mack Rides, one of the world’s leading suppliers of water coasters. Unlike traditional log flumes or river rapids, water coasters combine roller coaster elements with water sections, using powered lift systems to propel boats through a series of drops, turns and splash moments.

According to the released specifications, the attraction will feature a 471-metre-long track and reach a height of 23 metres. The latest construction photos show the ride’s distinctive layout taking shape, with multiple elevated turns and sweeping curves now fully connected.

With the track circuit nearing completion, construction is expected to move towards installing the ride’s mechanical systems, boats, station equipment and themed scenery before testing begins.

Existing attraction also receiving new theme

The 2027 expansion will include more than just the new roller coaster. Paultons Park has also confirmed that an existing boat ride within the area will receive a complete retheme, helping to create a more cohesive Viking environment throughout the land.

Although further details about the updated attraction have yet to be revealed, the refurbishment forms part of the park’s broader effort to transform Valgard into a fully immersive themed area rather than simply a collection of individual rides.

Another major investment for Paultons Park

Paultons Park has earned a strong reputation in recent years for combining family-friendly attractions with high-quality theming, particularly through the success of Peppa Pig World and its more recent thrill ride expansions.

With Serpent’s Curse now rapidly taking shape, the park is preparing to add another headline attraction to its growing portfolio. Once it opens in 2027, the Mack water coaster will become one of the centrepieces of Valgard – Realm of the Vikings, further establishing the area as one of the UK’s newest themed destinations for families and thrill seekers alike.
