Panorama Park Sauerland, the animal-and-amusement park in Kirchhundem, Germany, has confirmed the addition of a dramatic new slide tower — a 32-metre-high structure slated to open in 2025 (originally announced for 2026).
The new attraction, named Rama’s Rutsch-Riese, is set to become one of the park’s marquee features and significantly expand the entertainment offerings for its visitors.
A Tower of Slides: What to Expect
Rama’s Rutsch-Riese will house twelve different dry slides, offering a variety of experiences for different ages and thrill levels. Among the slides are a 21-metre-high free-fall slide, what the park describes as the world’s first “bobsled run slide,” a 1440-degree spiral (helix) slide, as well as gentler slides intended for young children, even kids from age three are said to be able to use some of them.
Beyond the slides themselves, the tower will include two panoramic platforms with glass railings, offering visitors broad views over the surrounding Sauerland region. For those seeking a bit more daring fun, there will also be a hanging net above the alpaca enclosure for a playful vantage point.
Where It Fits in Panorama Park Sauerland
Panorama Park Sauerland is no ordinary amusement park: it combines wildlife enclosures, family-friendly attractions and adventure rides, including Germany’s longest summer toboggan run and a wealth of playgrounds, water-based attractions and indoor entertainment zones.
The new slide tower will complement this mix by offering a large-scale dry slide attraction, broadening the park’s portfolio beyond coasters, toboggans and animal encounters. The slide tower aims to attract both younger kids and thrill-seekers, making it a multi-generational draw.
Construction, Opening, and Park Strategy
The official announcement came in early 2025, when park management revealed that construction of Rama’s Rutsch-Riese had commenced, with a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony being held. Although initial reports suggested a 2026 opening, the latest public materials list the slide-tower among the “main attractions for 2025,” indicating that the park aims to open the tower by late summer 2025 — subject to permitting and safety clearances.
The tower is being built under contract with a specialist stainless-steel slide manufacturer. Panorama Park emphasizes safety, innovation and reliability in the tower’s design, making sure both children and adults can enjoy the rides under secure conditions.
This addition also aligns with recent upgrades elsewhere in the park: Panorama Park has recently expanded its visitor infrastructure, including improved facilities, renewable energy measures (like a new PV-system), and new family-friendly attractions.
Versatile
Rama’s Rutsch-Riese promises to bring a fresh, versatile attraction that appeals to both thrill-seekers and families with young children. With twelve different slides, panoramic viewing platforms, and a mix of adrenaline and accessibility, the tower may become a new icon for Panorama Park Sauerland.
Because the towers, slides and viewing decks are dry (non-water), the attraction broadens the park’s appeal by offering a fun, high-thrill experience without the need for swim gear — a plus on days when water rides are less desirable. The variety of slides and the mix of heights and intensities make the tower suitable for a broad spectrum of guests.
For the park itself, the tower reinforces Panorama Park’s dual identity as wildlife park and amusement destination, helping to draw repeat visitors and expand its appeal beyond traditional water and coaster rides.
