New Chinese Theme Park Opens with Dinosaur-Themed Launch Coaster

China has welcomed another major addition to its rapidly expanding theme park industry with the opening of Xiaogan Fantawild Adventure Park. Located in Xiaogan, approximately 40 minutes from Wuhan in Hubei Province, the new destination officially welcomed its first guests on 17 June 2026 and features an impressive lineup of attractions, including a brand-new launched roller coaster as its centrepiece.

The park is the latest addition to the growing Fantawild portfolio, one of China’s largest domestic theme park operators, and combines immersive themed lands, large-scale dark rides and high-thrill attractions with an adjoining water park.

A launch coaster takes centre stage

The park’s headline attraction is Soar Through the Clouds, a custom-built LSM launch coaster manufactured by Chinese ride manufacturer Jinma Rides. Situated within the dinosaur-themed Wild Land area, the coaster has been designed as the signature experience of the new park.

Rather than relying on a traditional chain lift, the ride uses linear synchronous motor (LSM) technology to accelerate trains rapidly out of the station. Riders are launched into a fast-paced layout featuring sweeping turns, airtime hills, high-speed direction changes and several near-miss elements, all set against a prehistoric landscape filled with towering rockwork and dinosaurs.

The attraction represents one of Jinma’s most ambitious roller coaster projects to date and demonstrates the growing capabilities of Chinese manufacturers in delivering large-scale thrill rides.

More than just roller coasters

Although the launch coaster is the park’s biggest draw for thrill seekers, Xiaogan Fantawild Adventure Park offers a broad mix of experiences aimed at families as well.

Visitors can explore immersive dark rides, indoor theatres, children’s attractions and interactive experiences spread across several themed areas. The adjacent Boonie Bears Water Park, based on the popular Chinese animated franchise, expands the resort into a full-day destination with water slides, family attractions and splash zones.

The combination of a dry park and water park follows a formula Fantawild has successfully implemented at several of its newer developments across China.

A rapidly expanding park chain

Fantawild has become one of China’s most successful home-grown theme park brands over the past two decades. Unlike many parks that rely on internationally licensed intellectual properties, Fantawild develops many of its own stories, characters and themed experiences while combining them with advanced ride technology.

The company continues to invest heavily in new parks across the country, with several additional developments currently under construction. Xiaogan Adventure Park represents another step in that expansion strategy and further strengthens Fantawild’s presence in central China.

Strengthening China’s position in the global industry

The opening of Xiaogan Fantawild Adventure Park reflects China’s continued investment in large-scale themed entertainment. While international operators such as Disney and Universal have established a presence in the country, domestic companies like Fantawild are increasingly competing through original concepts, advanced technology and ambitious ride portfolios.

With Soar Through the Clouds as its flagship attraction and a diverse collection of rides and entertainment, the new park is expected to become a major tourism destination for the Hubei region while showcasing the continued growth of China’s own theme park industry.
