Movieland Park at Italy’s CanevaWorld Resort has officially opened its biggest addition for the 2026 season: Bugs Town. The brand-new themed land invites guests into a miniature Wild West where giant insects have taken over, creating one of the most unusual environments currently found at a European theme park.
Designed primarily for families with young children, Bugs Town replaces the former Stone Age-themed area and represents a major transformation of one of the park’s oldest sections.
A Wild West Inhabited by Giant Bugs
Rather than focusing on cowboys and outlaws, Bugs Town tells the story of a frontier town populated by oversized insects. The highly themed land combines Western architecture with giant mining equipment, oversized flowers and colourful bug characters, creating the illusion that visitors have been shrunk to insect size.
The entire area was designed and developed in-house, continuing CanevaWorld’s strategy of creating original attractions instead of relying on licensed intellectual properties.
New Attractions and Familiar Rides with a New Story
Bugs Town features a combination of brand-new rides and existing attractions that have been completely rethemed.
One of the major new additions is Driller, a spinning family attraction inspired by giant mining drills. Guests can also board Eldorado Express, a family ride that takes visitors through the bug-inhabited frontier.
Perhaps the biggest transformation is Gran Canyon Steamer. The former X-Splash log flume has been completely reimagined with new theming, enclosed scenes and storytelling elements, turning the attraction into a semi-dark ride where guests encounter giant insects working deep inside a gold mine before plunging down the familiar drop.
Several other attractions have also received new names, scenery and backstories to fit seamlessly into the new land.
More Than Just Rides
Bugs Town isn’t limited to attractions alone. The expansion also includes two themed food and beverage locations, a dedicated shop and a brand-new live entertainment offering, allowing families to spend more time immersed in the story of the miniature frontier town.
The addition reflects Movieland’s ongoing investment in family experiences while maintaining the cinematic style that has defined the park for years.
A New Chapter for Movieland
The opening of Bugs Town marks another step in Movieland Park’s evolution. While the resort remains best known for its stunt shows and movie-inspired attractions, the new land demonstrates an increasing focus on immersive, story-driven environments that appeal to younger visitors without losing the park’s distinctive identity.
With its combination of giant insects, Wild West scenery and reimagined attractions, Bugs Town has quickly become one of the most unusual themed lands to debut in Europe this year—and another reason for visitors to Lake Garda to add Movieland Park to their itinerary.
