MagicLand Reveals New Details About Italy’s First Wooden Roller Coaster

MagicLand has shared new details about the wooden roller coaster that will become the park’s next major attraction in 2027. The project, first announced earlier this year, is now taking shape with additional information about its investment, layout and the companies responsible for bringing the landmark ride to life.

Once it opens, the attraction will become Italy’s first operating wooden roller coaster in nearly two decades and a key part of MagicLand’s long-term expansion strategy.

€15 Million Investment

The new attraction represents an investment of approximately €15 million and is scheduled to open in March 2027. According to the latest information released by the park, the coaster will stand around 30 metres tall and feature a track measuring roughly one kilometre in length.

MagicLand expects the new ride to become its flagship attraction and strengthen its position as the largest amusement park in central and southern Italy. The investment follows a strong start to the 2026 season, with the park reporting record attendance and significant revenue growth compared to pre-pandemic levels.

Built by Industry Specialists

The coaster is being designed by The Gravity Group, one of the world’s leading wooden roller coaster designers, while Canadian company Martin & Vleminckx will serve as the project’s construction partner.

The collaboration brings together two companies with decades of experience in wooden coaster development. While no layout has been revealed yet, the attraction is expected to combine the classic feel of a traditional wooden coaster with the smoother ride dynamics and modern engineering for which The Gravity Group has become known.

MagicLand has indicated that additional details, including the coaster’s theme and complete layout, will be announced at a later date.

A Historic Addition for Italy

Although Italy was previously home to Mirabilandia’s famous Sierra Tonante, that roller coaster closed in 2007 and was later demolished. Since then, the country has been without an operating wooden coaster.

MagicLand’s new attraction will therefore mark the return of the ride type to Italy after a gap of almost twenty years, giving the country a modern wooden coaster for the first time in a generation.

Part of a Larger Expansion

The wooden coaster forms the centrepiece of a wider investment programme aimed at transforming MagicLand into one of Southern Europe’s leading theme park destinations.

Located near Rome, the park has continued to invest in new attractions, entertainment and seasonal events in recent years. The addition of a major wooden roller coaster is expected to significantly broaden its appeal among thrill-seekers while strengthening its reputation within the European coaster community.

With construction preparations continuing and more announcements expected in the coming months, anticipation is steadily building for what could become one of Europe’s most significant new roller coaster openings of 2027.
