Liseberg Marks 25 Years of “Jul på Liseberg” with Festivities

Sweden - Liseberg amusement park in Gothenburg, Sweden, is observing the 25th anniversary of its annual Christmas event, “Jul på Liseberg.” Since its inception in 2000, the event has drawn millions of visitors each year with its festive decorations and attractions.

Festive Features

This year, Liseberg features over five million lights and 2,100 Christmas trees to enhance the holiday atmosphere. The park has used seven tonnes of artificial snow to create a winter environment for its visitors. A new feature for this anniversary is a light display in the harbor area, which includes a Christmas message illuminated by effects similar to the Northern Lights and a starry sky.

Thematic Markets and Attractions

“Jul på Liseberg” includes three thematic Christmas markets: “Vintermarknaden,” “Gammaldags Jul,” and the newly introduced “Tyrolermarknaden.” Despite the winter season, 30 of the park’s rides remain operational, providing guests with various entertainment options.

Christmas Tree Installation

A notable feature of this year’s celebration is a 116-meter-high (380 feet) Christmas tree structure. This installation is visible throughout Gothenburg, serving as a festive marker for the city.

As the event marks its 25th anniversary, it continues to incorporate new experiences while maintaining the traditions that have made it a part of Swedish Christmas celebrations. The park describes “Jul på Liseberg” as Sweden’s largest Christmas celebration in the region.
