Holiday World invests $22 million in new water coaster

Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari has announced plans for a new water coaster costing $22 million (€19.3 million). The attraction, named Cannonball!, is scheduled to open in May 2027 and will become the largest single-attraction investment in the history of the Indiana amusement and water park.

The new ride is being supplied by German manufacturer Mack Rides. According to Holiday World, Cannonball! will feature the tallest drop and the highest top speed of any water coaster in the United States.

More than 300 metres long

Plans call for a track measuring more than 1,000 feet (over 300 metres) in length. Riders will first be lifted 90 feet (27 metres) before descending a drop of nearly 75 feet (23 metres). The attraction will include five drops in total, along with several turns and changes in direction.

Holiday World states that Cannonball! will reach a top speed of 45 mph (72 km/h). The ride’s storyline centres on a fictional community swimming pool and an annual cannonball-diving competition. As part of the theme, boats will finish their course in the Boulder Canyon Community Pool.

Family attraction

Guests measuring at least 42 inches (1.07 metres) may ride when accompanied by an adult. From 48 inches (1.22 metres), visitors can ride without supervision. The attraction will use seven vehicles designed to resemble colourful inflatable tubes.

“This ride is dedicated to every kid who had to work up the courage to climb the tall diving board at their community pool,” said Leah Koch-Blumhardt, Holiday World’s owner and Director of Communications.

Cannonball! will be added to the park’s Fourth of July-themed area.
