Silverwood Theme Park - Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation has announced its intention to acquire Silverwood Theme Park, located in the Pacific Northwest. Silverwood has been managed by the Norton family since its opening in 1988.
Details of the Acquisition
Herschend Family Entertainment has initiated the process to acquire Silverwood Theme Park. The park, situated in Athol, Idaho, is the largest theme and water park in the Pacific Northwest, spanning 400 acres. Silverwood features over 70 rides and attractions, including Boulder Beach Water Park.
The acquisition adds to Herschend’s existing portfolio, which includes Dollywood Parks & Resorts and Silver Dollar City. Herschend has been in the entertainment business for 75 years and oversees more than 40 family entertainment brands across North America, employing over 22,000 people.
Operations and Management
The Norton family has operated Silverwood Theme Park for more than 35 years and expressed confidence in transferring ownership to Herschend. Paul Norton, Chief Operating Officer of Silverwood, noted the shared values between the two companies, particularly their focus on family entertainment.
Andrew Wexler, CEO of Herschend, remarked that the acquisition would maintain Silverwood’s legacy, citing Herschend’s focus on hospitality, storytelling, and community values. The due diligence process is underway as Silverwood is integrated into Herschend’s operations.
Silverwood is known for its family-oriented environment and classic Americana charm. As the acquisition moves forward, Herschend plans to maintain these aspects while exploring potential growth opportunities.
