Grand Ole’ Carousel Reopens at Six Flags St. Louis After Renovation

Six Flags St. Louis has reopened the Grand Ole’ Carousel after a renovation that kept the attraction closed for nearly six seasons. Originally manufactured by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, the carousel has undergone a significant restoration process.

Restoration Process

The Grand Ole’ Carousel’s refurbishment involved a detailed process of restoration. Each of the carousel’s horses was stripped of paint down to the plaster. This was followed by patching and sanding to ensure a smooth surface before repainting them layer by layer. Jewels were added to each horse, and every horse was given a unique identity and name.

Current Status

While the carousel is now operational, the restoration is not entirely complete. Two war chariots that are part of the ride are still being finalized. These chariots are expected to return and be part of the attraction later this season.
