Italy - Gardaland, an amusement park in Italy, recently organized an event titled “Gardaland Stars” as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations. Held on July 18, the event was a tribute to individuals who have contributed to the park over the past five decades. This celebration preceded the official anniversary on July 19.
Commemoration of Gardaland’s Founder
A central feature of the “Gardaland Stars” event was the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to Livio Furini, founder of Gardaland. The plaque, crafted by Marco Bressan of Ozlab Funfactory, features a bronze-effect resin relief of Furini, a historical map of the park, and a recreation of its inaugural advertisement. Contributions to its creation came from Paolo Pontalto of Proges Group and Claudio Bassani of Surfaces Italia. The plaque is located at the entrance of the Medieval Castle, the site of Gardaland’s inauguration on July 19, 1975.
Reunion with Past Contributors
Former managers, operators, and technicians attended the “Gardaland Stars” event, acknowledging their roles in the park’s development. This reunion highlighted the connection between Gardaland’s history and its current status as a leading amusement park in Italy and Europe.
Development and Expansion
Located in Castelnuovo del Garda, Italy, Gardaland spans 90,000 square meters and has experienced significant growth since its opening. In 2006, Merlin Entertainments acquired the park, marking the start of further development and international recognition. Gardaland now operates as a resort with modern attractions, themed events, and three themed hotels.
The “Gardaland Stars” event and the unveiling of the plaque demonstrate the park’s commitment to honoring its history while pursuing future development.
