France - Festyland, a theme park located near Caen in Normandy, has announced plans for a new roller coaster named Valkyrie. The ride is scheduled to open in the spring of 2026, with a financial outlay exceeding €4 million.
Valkyrie: A Vekoma Family Boomerang Coaster
Valkyrie will be a Vekoma Family Boomerang Coaster, featuring a ride experience that includes forward and backward movements on the same track. The roller coaster will reach a height of 89 feet (27 meters) and speeds over 40 mph (65 km/h).
Thematic Design Inspired by Norse Mythology
The attraction will be based on Norse mythology, emphasizing the legendary Valkyries. The ride’s thematic features will include mist and runic symbols, developed by a design team to complement the theme.
Location and Integration
Valkyrie will be located in one of Festyland’s atmospheric areas, designed to integrate with the park’s landscape. The location aims to blend storytelling, theming, and ride technology.
The addition of Valkyrie is part of Festyland’s ongoing development efforts as a family destination in northern France.
