Germany - Europa-Park is preparing a major redevelopment of Euro-Mir, the iconic spinning coaster that first opened in 1997. While the attraction will not be demolished, park leadership has confirmed that the ride will be retracked and modernized in the coming years as part of a large-scale revitalization project.
In an interview, Michael Mack hinted that a “360-degree approach” is being considered for the makeover, although the exact meaning of that phrase remains open to interpretation.
Mack stated that, if it were up to him alone, the project would already be underway, but noted that his father, who co-leads the company, is taking a more cautious stance. According to Mack, the project is expected to begin within the next three years.
What could a 360-degree transformation include?
While no specific technical details have been confirmed, the park appears to be considering a comprehensive overhaul. This could include new ride vehicles, updated visual and audio effects, an immersive queue line, and enhanced storytelling elements. Some speculate the attraction may even receive an entirely reimagined theme zone, similar in scope to the ambitious redesign of the Voltron Nevera area.
The term “360-degree” may also refer to a broader marketing and communications strategy, aimed at turning Euro-Mir into a multi-platform experience with storytelling extensions across media and guest touchpoints — merging ride design, theming, and brand strategy into a single immersive identity.
No new themed areas confirmed yet
Despite the attention on Euro-Mir, Europa-Park has clarified that no new themed lands are currently planned elsewhere in the park. Although physical space remains for one or two potential future expansions, the park’s current focus is on the continued development of Rulantica, its adjacent indoor water park. This expansion will remain the top priority in the short term.
For now, the transformation of Euro-Mir is still in the early stages of planning, but all signs point toward a bold new future for one of Europa-Park’s most recognizable coasters.
