For one day only, Dreamland Margate will swap roller coaster screams for wagging tails as the popular seaside amusement park hosts its annual Dreamland Dog Day on Sunday, 27 September.
The event transforms the park into a celebration of dogs and their owners, with competitions, agility demonstrations, shopping opportunities and family entertainment taking place throughout the day.
Dog Show and Agility Challenges
One of the main attractions will be the Dreamland Dog Day Show, organised in support of the RSPCA Kent – Isle of Thanet Branch.
Owners will be able to enter their dogs into a variety of fun competition classes celebrating everything from personality and appearance to obedience. There will also be agility courses where dogs can test their speed and skills under the guidance of experienced trainers from Enve Canine Services.
Whether visitors arrive with an energetic puppy or an older companion, the event is designed to be suitable for dogs of all ages and breeds.
Shopping, Entertainment and Family Activities
Beyond the competitions, guests can browse a marketplace featuring dog-friendly products, accessories, treats and gifts from a variety of traders.
Throughout the day, visitors can also enjoy free film screenings on Dreamland’s giant outdoor screen, creating a relaxed atmosphere for both families and pet owners.
Dreamland is still accepting applications from additional exhibitors and traders wishing to take part in the event.
Practical Information for Visitors
Dreamland Dog Day takes place on Sunday, 27 September 2026 at Dreamland Margate, located on the Kent seafront.
Entry to Dreamland itself is free, allowing visitors to explore the event without purchasing a ride ticket. Those wishing to enjoy the amusement rides can buy either individual ride tokens or unlimited ride wristbands on the day of their visit.
The park also offers a wide range of food outlets, cafés, arcades and the famous Roller Disco, making it easy to spend an entire day at the resort.
Parking is available nearby at the Arlington multi-storey car park, while Margate railway station is only a short walk from the park, making Dreamland easily accessible by public transport from London and other parts of south-east England.
A Rare Exception to Dreamland’s Dog Policy
Interestingly, Dreamland Dog Day is one of the very few occasions when pet dogs are welcomed inside the amusement park.
Under normal operating rules, only registered assistance dogs are permitted to enter Dreamland. The annual Dog Day therefore provides a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the historic amusement park alongside their four-legged companions.
With competitions, demonstrations, shopping and entertainment all packed into a single day, Dreamland Dog Day has become one of the park’s most distinctive seasonal events and is expected to attract hundreds of dog lovers from across the region.
