Disneyland Paris is preparing for one of the most ambitious expansions in its history as Walt Disney Studios Park undergoes a complete transformation into Disney Adventure World, set to open on March 29, 2026.
Representing a €2 billion investment, the project will nearly double the size of the park and introduce expansive new themed zones, large-scale attractions and immersive environments inspired by some of Disney’s most successful franchises. This transformation marks a defining moment for Disneyland Paris as it shifts from a studio-themed concept toward a fully-fledged, story-driven adventure park.
The Vision Behind Disney Adventure World
Disney Adventure World is designed as a cohesive narrative-driven park built around the theme of exploration, cinematic worlds and emotional journeys. While the former Walt Disney Studios Park was once considered small and inconsistent, the new masterplan introduces sweeping landscapes, interconnected lands and a central waterfront environment called Adventure Bay. This expansive lake will serve as the park’s anchor, surrounded by new attractions, dining areas, character encounters and nighttime spectaculars.
The transformation reflects a dramatic redesign of nearly ninety percent of the park since its opening in 2002. What began as an industrial backlot concept has evolved into a richly detailed environment shaped by the artistry of Walt Disney Imagineering. The rebranding to Disney Adventure World signals a new era—one in which guests are invited to step directly into living storyworlds rather than observe behind-the-scenes filmmaking.
The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge: A Royal Lakefront Landmark
One of the centrepieces of the expansion is The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge, a waterfront dining venue along the shores of Adventure Bay. This upscale location will allow guests to dine with Disney Princesses in an elegant setting that blends European craftsmanship with Disney storytelling.
The restaurant’s entrance will feature nine handcrafted Delft Blue plates, each representing a different Disney Princess. Created in collaboration with Royal Delft—the iconic Dutch pottery manufacturer—the plates bring traditional artistry into a modern fairytale setting. The installation is curated under the direction of Bowie Faas of Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, marking a rare cultural partnership within a Disney theme park.
Inside, The Regal View will combine panoramic lakeside vistas with character dining experiences, offering both daytime and evening opportunities to meet beloved royalty from the Disney canon. Its strategic placement along Adventure Bay ensures it becomes a visual and experiential highlight of the park’s reimagined core.
World of Frozen: The Immersive Kingdom of Arendelle
The largest new land within Disney Adventure World will be World of Frozen, a meticulously crafted recreation of the Kingdom of Arendelle. Centered around a towering 36-meter Ice Palace perched on the North Mountain, the land will invite guests to explore a Nordic-inspired village square, themed boutiques, a cozy tavern and intricate architectural details modeled after Scandinavian landscapes.
A major part of the area is the family-friendly boat ride Frozen Ever After, which brings iconic scenes from the Frozen films to life with music, animatronics and atmospheric effects. Guests will encounter Anna, Elsa, Olaf and other beloved characters as they journey through moments inspired by the two films. The land will also include a daytime show and dedicated meet-and-greet locations, making it a cornerstone of Disney Adventure World’s appeal.
World of Frozen expands Disneyland Paris’s ability to offer large-scale IP-driven experiences comparable to those found in other Disney resorts worldwide, reasserting the park’s position as a flagship destination.
Other Expanding Worlds and Future Concepts
In addition to World of Frozen, Disney Adventure World maintains and expands several key areas already established in the park. Avengers Campus, opened in 2022, provides a fully immersive Marvel environment with highly interactive attractions such as Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure and Avengers Assemble: Flight Force. Worlds of Pixar continues to celebrate fan-favourite films through detailed environments and family attractions inspired by Ratatouille, Toy Story and Cars.
Disneyland Paris has also begun early development for a Lion King-inspired land, which is planned for a future stage of expansion. While details have not yet been finalised, the land is expected to bring the African savanna to life with new attractions, entertainment and dining experiences rooted in the beloved animated classic.
A Park Transformed: From Backlot to Fully Developed Adventure Destination
When Walt Disney Studios Park opened in 2002, its offerings were limited, consisting of Animation Courtyard, Production Courtyard and Backlot, with a handful of attractions such as Flying Carpets Over Agrabah, Armageddon: Special Effects and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. Over time, the park underwent significant reinvention. Toon Studio added colorful animated worlds including Crush’s Coaster and Cars attractions, while the 2014 debut of Ratatouille: The Adventure signalled a major step toward immersive storytelling.
Backlot later evolved into Avengers Campus, marking one of the most significant reimaginings in the park’s history. Production Courtyard saw the arrival of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror as well as the redevelopment of theatres and show venues. Each step brought the park closer to a more cohesive thematic identity, culminating in the bold transformation into Disney Adventure World.
Guest Experience and Opening Plans
With its March 2026 opening, Disney Adventure World will usher in a new guest experience that integrates grand landscapes, technologically advanced attractions and memorable character encounters. Guests staying in Disney hotels are already able to book their visits in anticipation of the debut, and Disneyland Pass holders will be offered exclusive previews before the official launch.
The expansion not only revitalizes the park’s infrastructure but also strengthens Disneyland Paris’s reputation as one of Europe’s premier entertainment destinations. By nearly doubling the size of the park and introducing world-class attractions, Disney Adventure World stands as one of the most ambitious theme park projects ever undertaken in Europe.
