Disney Unveils “Hercules” Stage Adaptation on Disney Destiny Cruise

Disney Destiny - Disney has introduced a theatrical stage adaptation of its 1997 animated film “Hercules” aboard the Disney Destiny cruise ship. The production features a 55-minute performance that updates the original narrative with new visual elements and a musical addition.

Updated Narrative and Musical Components

The “Hercules” adaptation on Disney Destiny integrates contemporary elements into the story. A new song, “Shooting Star,” has been added to enhance the romantic storyline between Hercules and Megara. Corey J. Bradford plays the role of Hercules. The show includes a quintet of muses who contribute to the storytelling through gospel music, supported by projection mapping technology.

Incorporation of Puppetry and Technology

The production utilizes advanced puppetry technology developed by Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI). It features two “Project Exo” animated characters and a multi-headed Hydra puppet used in a significant battle scene. These elements demonstrate the combination of traditional and modern techniques in the production.

The Disney Destiny cruise ship hosts this theatrical performance, offering guests an opportunity to experience Disney’s storytelling at sea. The “Hercules” adaptation was part of Disney’s media preview cruise. Contributions from WDI’s Jeff Conover were involved in the production.
