Construction is advancing rapidly on Parc Astérix’s ambitious new Greek-themed expansion, with the latest images from the construction site revealing just how much progress has been made ahead of the area’s planned opening in 2027.
Steel frameworks are now rising across the site, concrete structures are taking shape and the outlines of several new buildings are becoming clearly visible. The project represents one of the park’s largest investments in family attractions and infrastructure in recent years and will significantly expand the existing Greek-themed area behind the Théâtre de Poséidon.
A Colourful Greek Village Is Taking Shape
The new expansion will transform around 5,000 square metres into a picturesque Mediterranean village inspired by the Greek island of Symi.
Unlike the white-and-blue architecture found elsewhere in the existing Greek area, the new district will feature colourful harbour houses, narrow streets, waterfront terraces and lush Mediterranean landscaping overlooking the park’s lake. The goal is to create a more immersive environment while increasing capacity in one of the park’s busiest themed areas.
The latest construction photos already show the scale of the project, with multiple buildings now emerging from the site.
Parc Astérix’s Largest Restaurant Under Construction
One of the most impressive structures now taking shape is La Table de Dionysos, which will become the largest restaurant in Parc Astérix.
The table-service restaurant will accommodate more than 500 guests and is set to become the centrepiece of the new area. Inside, visitors will dine across four themed rooms inspired by a Greek harbour, a lively marketplace and traditional island villages, while expansive glass roofs and large outdoor terraces overlooking the lake will create one of the park’s most scenic dining locations.
The expansion will also include two takeaway kiosks, helping to improve food capacity throughout the Greek zone.
New Attractions for Younger Visitors
While nearby attractions such as Toutatis, Tonnerre 2 Zeus and Goudurix already cater to thrill seekers, the new expansion has been designed primarily with families and younger children in mind.
Two new Zierer mini drop towers are currently under construction. These family attractions will gently rotate while rising and falling, providing a first drop tower experience for younger guests.
Joining them will be a Zamperla Go Go Bounze attraction themed as colourful Greek fishing boats. The family ride will bounce and rotate around a central tower, fitting perfectly within the new harbour setting.
A large themed playground covering more than 220 square metres will complete the expansion. Inspired by a giant Greek fishing boat, the playground will feature climbing structures, slides and interactive play elements for younger visitors.
Although the attractions themselves have not yet been installed, the visible foundations and surrounding infrastructure confirm that construction is progressing steadily.
Part of a Long-Term Investment Strategy
The Greek expansion is one of several major projects planned for Parc Astérix over the coming years.
The park is currently investing heavily in new attractions, infrastructure and accommodation as part of Compagnie des Alpes’ long-term development strategy. Alongside the Greek expansion, the new 300-room L’Odyssée hotel is also scheduled to open in 2027.
Looking further ahead, the park is planning Londinium, a completely new indoor themed land inspired by Asterix in Britain. That expansion is expected to include a major indoor roller coaster, an interactive dark ride, restaurants, shops and additional family attractions.
On Track for a 2027 Opening
Although significant work remains before guests can explore the new area, the latest construction update demonstrates that the project is progressing at an impressive pace.
With steel structures now rising across the site and the first major buildings clearly taking shape, visitors are getting their best look yet at what promises to become one of the most beautiful themed areas in Parc Astérix.
When it opens in 2027, the expansion will not only introduce new family attractions and the park’s largest restaurant, but also an entirely new Greek village that will transform the rear of the Greek zone into one of the resort’s most immersive environments.
