Construction is moving at an impressive pace on L’Odyssée, the brand-new hotel that will become the fourth accommodation at Parc Astérix when it opens in 2027.
New images from the construction site show that the project has progressed well beyond the foundation stage. Steel frameworks are now rising across the site, several buildings are beginning to take shape and the overall footprint of the future hotel is becoming clearly visible. Once completed, L’Odyssée will play a key role in Parc Astérix’s ambitious expansion plans and significantly increase the resort’s accommodation capacity.
A Journey Through the Ancient World
Unlike the park’s existing hotels, L’Odyssée will not focus on Gaulish themes. Instead, guests will embark on a journey through the ancient civilizations encountered by Asterix and Obelix during their adventures.
The four-star hotel will be divided into four distinct themed districts inspired by Persia, Mesopotamia, Egypt and Phoenicia. Each area will feature its own architecture, decoration and atmosphere, allowing guests to experience different regions of the ancient world during their stay.
The concept reflects the many destinations visited throughout the Asterix comic series while offering a fresh identity within the resort.
A Major Expansion of the Resort
When it opens, L’Odyssée will offer 300 guest rooms, making it the largest addition to Parc Astérix’s hotel portfolio since the resort first introduced on-site accommodation.
The new hotel will increase the resort’s total capacity to approximately 750 rooms, allowing Parc Astérix to welcome significantly more multi-day visitors. The project also includes modern conference and seminar facilities, enabling the resort to expand its business tourism offering throughout the year.
Around 200 permanent jobs are expected to be created once the hotel becomes operational.
Sustainability at the Heart of the Project
L’Odyssée has been designed with sustainability as one of its core principles.
The project has already received the French Haute Qualité Environnementale (HQE) “Excellent” certification for its design, recognising its environmental performance, energy efficiency and responsible construction methods. Parc Astérix has also stated that it intends to continue improving the sustainability of its accommodation portfolio in the coming years.
Construction Gathering Momentum
The latest construction update shows that work is progressing steadily across the entire site.
The steel structures of several buildings are now clearly visible, while concrete walls and floor levels continue to rise. Although much work remains before the hotel is ready to welcome its first guests, the rapid pace of construction suggests the project remains firmly on schedule for its planned 2027 opening.
As construction advances over the coming months, the themed architecture inspired by the ancient civilizations will gradually begin to emerge.
Part of Parc Astérix’s Largest Investment Programme
L’Odyssée is just one element of a much broader transformation currently taking place at Parc Astérix.
Alongside the new hotel, the park is building a major expansion of its Greek-themed area, featuring two new family attractions, a large themed playground and La Table de Dionysos, which will become the largest restaurant in the park.
Looking further ahead, Parc Astérix is also preparing the ambitious Londinium expansion, a new indoor themed land inspired by Asterix in Britain that is expected to include a major roller coaster, a dark ride, restaurants and shops.
Together, these developments form part of Compagnie des Alpes’ long-term investment strategy to further strengthen Parc Astérix as one of Europe’s leading theme park destinations.
With the hotel’s structure now clearly rising above the construction site, visitors are getting their first real impression of what will soon become the resort’s newest gateway to the world of Asterix.
