BoldMove Introduces Smash & Reload 2.0 Interactive Dark Ride System

Belgium - BoldMove Nation has unveiled Smash & Reload 2.0, an upgraded version of its interactive compact dark ride. Featuring a new trackless ride system by Rogue Rides and enhanced interactive gameplay by Lagotronics, the updated attraction is scheduled for installation in Europe in April 2026.

Technical Upgrades and Ride System

The revised design integrates Rogue Rides’ trackless, induction-powered ride system, eliminating traditional tracks and docking limitations. The vehicles are capable of fluid movements in all directions, programmable trajectories, and continuous operation via onboard induction charging. Production of the first units is underway in Belgium.

Improved Capacity and Dual Boarding Stations

Smash & Reload 2.0 adds a dual-station off-track docking configuration that separates loading and unloading routes to increase ride throughput and reduce operational delays. The new system allows riders to stay immersed in the storyline while boarding activities occur out of view.

Interactive Enhancements by Lagotronics

Interaction technology has been overhauled in partnership with Lagotronics Projects. Riders use color-coded pointing devices to engage with large 4‑metre screens in four sequential scenes. The hardware design is intended to be intuitive and accessible for all ages. Back-projection systems improve screen and décor integration, while vehicle-integrated audio systems provide a cinematic sound experience.

Ride Design and Storytelling Flexibility

The core “smash and reload” approach remains intact: riders load their device and rotate to play the game scene-by-scene. The theming is fully adaptable — the ride can support original intellectual properties such as TooMush or Voodoo Festival, or be customized to unique park narratives. The experience includes immersive queuing, themed décor, and a post-show area with branded merchandise.

Operational Efficiency and Scalability

BoldMove highlights operational efficiency as a key strength: modular components are designed for easy maintenance and replacement. The ride offers high uptime and is built for repeatability with its scoring system and gamified elements. Packaging the technology in compact formats allows operators to install high-capacity attractions in minimal space.

Context and Future Implementation

Smash & Reload 2.0 builds on the success of the original version, first installed in 2021. The model “Champi’Folies” in Le PAL, France, has received multiple industry awards. The new version will maintain the core gameplay and capacity while adding advanced ride flexibility and immersive features.
