Baron 1898 Reopens After Maintenance as Efteling Begins New Attraction Construction

The Netherlands - Efteling, a theme park in the Netherlands, has reopened its dive coaster, Baron 1898, following maintenance. Concurrently, the park has initiated construction on a new family-friendly free-fall ride, Hooghmoed, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.

Baron 1898 Maintenance and Enhancements

Baron 1898 has undergone significant maintenance work. The refurbishment included a fresh coat of paint, updates to mechanical components such as brakes and motors, and enhancements to lighting and tile work. These improvements are intended to maintain the ride’s functionality for the next ten years.

New Family-Friendly Attraction: Hooghmoed

Efteling has started construction on a new attraction, Hooghmoed, a family-friendly free-fall ride expected to open in the summer of 2026. The initial phase of construction, including groundwork and foundational elements, has been completed.

Souvenir and Dining Options Reopen

With the reopening of Baron 1898, Efteling has also reopened the souvenir shop De Gevoelighe Plaet, which offers new merchandise such as clothing, accessories, and collectibles themed around the Baron 1898 coaster. Additionally, two food locations, ’t Melkhuysje and De Verkleumde Kompel, have resumed operations. De Verkleumde Kompel is known for its customizable hot chocolate options.
